Jamie Bestwick

Jamie Bestwick is a BMX rider from Nottingham, United Kingdom. Born on July 8, 1971, he started riding BMX with his friends at 10 years old. Jamie only competed in BMX events for fun. Riding his bike was just a way to hang out with his friends. After he finished school, his first priority was working as a mechanic for an airline company in England and he thought that was going to be his career. However, he decided to quit his job and Jamie competed in his first X Games in 1996. After making the switch to full-time rider, he ended Dave Mirra’s BMX three-year Vert reign, taking home the gold. He gradually became unbeatable. He won every single competition he entered in 2005. He won silver at X-Games 2015, losing after winning 9 years in a row
He has also won Laureus World Sports Award for Action Sportsperson of the Year and nominated for a Best Male Action Sports Athlete ESPY Award
==Biography==

His quiver of 540 variations, including alley oop 5s in the 11-foot range and double downside tailwhips, has no equal, neither does his amplitude above the 'pipe.
At this year's Dew Tour Championships, Bestwick took home the overall Dew Cup even after riding finals with a herniated disc. It was his fifth straight Vert title.
His airs may have been a bit smaller, but he was still impressive. Bestwick won four of the five events and has made it into 20 consecutive finals during his Dew Tour career.
Simply the smoothest, most comprehensive rider on the halfpipe today.
Jamie Bestwick’s amazing season started just six months after a gruesome crash that fractured his skull and shattered both eye sockets. Nearly untouchable in the Halfpipe, Jamie Bestwick has dominated Vert competition for much of the last decade. He attacks the ramp with moves of technical difficulty and seamless flow, a one-two punch that consistently flattens the opposition. At the X Games, Bestwick won his fifth straight gold medal and eighth overall in BMX Vert, narrowly defeating Steve McCann in a wild final that featured a number of rarely seen tricks, landed in succession. At 2011’s Dew Tour Championships, Bestwick won the overall for the seventh year in a row.
